…Company joins SON’s
World Standards Day Walk to promote safety, reliability and confidence in
energy solutions
As Nigeria continues
to pursue more affordable and cleaner energy, the quality of the equipment and
systems supporting this transition deserves greater attention. Access to energy
is important, but so is ensuring that the solutions deployed are safe, reliable
and capable of delivering the performance expected of them.
This was the message highlighted by JMG Limited, a provider of integrated electromechanical solutions, through its participation in the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) 2026 World Standards Day Walk in Lagos on Saturday, October 17.
Members of JMG’s
Production Team joined the walk to support efforts to promote quality standards
and highlight their importance in advancing Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG
7), which seeks to ensure access to affordable, reliable and modern energy for
all.
Held under the theme “Shared
Vision for a Better World: Spotlight on SDG 7 – Affordable and Clean Energy,”
the walk commenced at 7:30 a.m. at the SON Laboratory Complex in Ogba, bringing
attention to the role of standards in product safety, performance, consumer
protection and industrial development.
For JMG, the
conversation goes beyond energy access to the quality and dependability of the
solutions that power homes, businesses and industrial operations. From solar
energy systems and power generation equipment to electrical infrastructure and
cooling solutions, the performance of these systems depends, in part, on sound
engineering, appropriate installation and consistent quality practices.
Fouad El Chami, Plant
Manager, JMG/Jamara, emphasised that quality standards must remain central to
how products are manufactured and delivered.
“Standards are not
just requirements to be met; they help ensure that products are safe,
dependable and fit for purpose. Quality must be considered from the beginning
of the production process because it influences how a product performs and how
confidently people can rely on it,” he said.
He noted that as
Nigeria explores opportunities to expand access to cleaner energy, attention to
quality will be essential to ensuring that investments in energy solutions
deliver lasting value.
“Affordable energy is
important, but affordability must also be considered alongside reliability,
safety and performance. The equipment and systems supporting Nigeria’s energy
needs must be suitable for their intended use and meet the appropriate quality
requirements. This is why standards and responsible production practices
matter,” El Chami added.
JMG
Limited provides a range of electromechanical solutions spanning power generation, electrical infrastructure, cooling systems, elevators and escalators, and air compressors. Across these areas, the
company recognises the importance of dependable equipment and sound quality
practices in meeting the needs of businesses and other users.
Its participation in
the World Standards Day Walk reflects support for SON’s efforts to promote a
stronger quality culture across Nigerian industry. It also reinforces the
broader need for manufacturers, solution providers and other stakeholders to
recognise quality standards as an important part of building consumer
confidence and supporting sustainable development.
As Nigeria advances
its clean energy ambitions, the challenge is not simply to expand access, but
to ensure that the solutions supporting that progress are reliable, safe and
built to serve their intended purpose. Strong quality standards provide an
important foundation for achieving that goal.
