The Fusengbuwa Ruling House in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, has
formally rejected the lineage claim submitted by Otunba Wasiu Ayinde
Adewale, popularly known as KWAM 1,
declaring his completed lineage form invalid.
KWAM 1 had stated his intention to become the Awujale of
Ijebuland, hinging his claim on his lineage to the Fusengbuwa Ruling House in Ijebu-Ode, a claim now disputed.
In an official letter dated 11 December 2025, and signed by key officers of the ruling house, the family acknowledged receipt of the completed
particulars and linkage form submitted by Otunba Adesanya.
The letter was shared on X by the media aide to President Bola
Tinubu, Bayo Onanuga on Thursday.
Onanuga also hails from Ijebu-Ode.
"We write to confirm the receipt of the above completed
form dated 10th December 2025 and signed by your good self."
However, the ruling house raised concerns over the
certification process, noting that the form was endorsed before it was signed
by the applicant.
"Curiously, the form was certified by a purported family unit head, one Omoba Adetayo Abayomi Oduneye Eruobodo on 8th December 2025, two days before your good self signed it. In other words, the form was presigned."
Responding to the certification, the ruling house stated:
"The form was not signed by the authorised representative (Family Head) of
your purported Family Unit Head."
It further questioned the legitimacy of the individual who
certified the form.
"Omoba Adetayo Abayomi Oduneye Eruobodo is not a
registered member of the Jadiara Royal House and therefore, has no locus standi
to sign any linkage form on behalf of the family."
The ruling house also said its inquiry did not confirm the
applicant’s membership.
"Our extensive investigation has not revealed any proof
of your membership of the Jadiara Royal House or indeed that of Fusengbuwa
Ruling House."
As a result, the form was declared invalid.
"Consequently, the completed linkage lineage form is hereby declared null,
void and of no consequence."
"For the avoidance of doubt, your claim to the membership
of Fusengbuwa Ruling House is rejected and the completed form is of no
consequence. Please accept our best wishes for your future endeavours."
The letter was signed by Otunba Lateef Owoyemi (Chairman),
Pastor Prince Bola Salami (General Secretary), Otunba Adedokun Ajidagba (Deputy
Chairman), Otunba Akinola Odedina (Head of Jadiara Royal House), Chief Prof.
Fassy A. O. Yusuf (Vice-Chairman), and Ath. Adebisi Quadri (Co-Head Jadiara
Royal House).
The family head, Otunba Abdul
Lateef Adebayo also endorsed the
position.
It would be recalled that Fuji musician and legend, Wasiu
Ayinde, declared his intention to be considered for the vacant stool of the
Awujale of Ijebuland.
KWAM 1, as he is popularly called in a letter dated December 3, 2025, addressed
to the Fusengbuwa ruling house of Agunsebi Quarters, claimed to be a bona fide
son of the Oba Jadiara lineage.
The musician said, “Otunba Wasiu Ayinde Adewale Olasunkanmi
Omogbolahan Anifowoshe, MON, hereby formally notifies the Fusengbuwa Ruling
House of my intention to be considered for the vacant stool of the Awujale of
Ijebuland, subject strictly to the provisions of Ijebu customary law and the
Ogun State Chieftaincy Laws.
“I was born on 3rd March 1957, and I am a bona fide son of the
Fusengbuwa Ruling House of Agunsebi Quarters, tracing my ancestry to the Oba
Jadiara lineage, which qualifies me to present myself for consideration in
accordance with established tradition."
"I have devoted over five decades to the promotion of
Ijebu, Yoruba and Nigerian culture through music and cultural enterprise,"
he wrote in the letter.
